How live odds work
Before a game, prices reflect the bookmaker’s view of both teams. Once it starts, they are recalculated from the score, the clock and what is happening on the field. A goal in Croke Park, a red card at Anfield or a faller three out at Punchestown can change a price in seconds.
A championship example
Take a favourite at 1.60 to win a championship match. The underdog raises a green flag early and the favourite drifts. If you still fancy the stronger team to come back, you now get a bigger price than you would have got before the throw-in.
